William Wesley Bartholomew
1979 - 2026
Mr. William Wesley Bartholomew, 46, of Winston-Salem passed away in the early morning hours of August 6, 2026.
William was preceded in death by his mother Cecilia Bartholomew. He is survived by his father Charles Bartholomew (special friend Shae Gross), his sister Dana Sloan (Stewart), nephew Cameron Sloan (Kacie), niece Laura Todd (Ben), two great nephews, Jonathan Todd and Cam Sloan, and his esteemed friend, Kirby.
William was a native of Winston-Salem, and graduated from Parkland High School in 1998. William was a reservation agent for American Airlines where he was a valued employee for many years. William enjoyed traveling, good food, and was a passionate fan of the Carolina Hurricanes.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Will and I were the best of friends. I would go over to his place and watch the Carolina Hurricane hockey games with him. I am saddened by this news, and he will surely be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with with his family. Rest In Peace, Will.
Will and I were the best of friends. There was a time we were pretty much inseparable. We hung out together at the VFW Post 1134.We traveled to N.Y. together to watch ball games.We also traveled to Florida to watch the Carolina Hurricanes hockey game. I would go over to his place and watch the Carolina Hurricane hockey games with him and he would come to my place.I am saddened by this news, and he will surely be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. Rest In Peace, Will.
For the last seven years, Will has been my partner, companion and best friend. He truly loved to laugh, loved playing Pokemon Go, had very fond memories of his time at UNCW and the friends he made there that he kept in touch with. He was a fan of the Canes and more recently a big fan of Tottenham Hotspurs from the Premier League. He also loved music, especially lyrics, concerts, and seeing new places. He was a great love in my life and I’m missing him deeply. I wish him all the peace as he’s reunited with his Mother, whom he loved and missed dearly.
To my cousin i will always remember our childhood memories..I am so glad we got to talk in the last few months. I know my Mama loved you very much and enjoyed the time she had with you when you lived near her. I am glad I got to tell you thank you and how much it meant to her and her both. God I don’t understand why! Rest east my cousin. You are with your Mama now and mine as well as alot of family members. I will see you soon, until then rest in peace.
My husband, Cam, and I have known William since he was a young boy. He was always quiet, well mannered and thoughtful of others. He was patient and kindhearted, especially with children.
Knowing William was a great blessing. He will be sorely missed.
Our prayers remain with His father, Butch, his sister, Dana (Stewart), and niece and nephews. May God bless and keep you in His tender care.
Cam and Brenda Sloan
Will was a friend and brother from UNCW. His love of hockey and connection to the Hurricanes kept us in touch over the years as well as his work in aviation. I was deeply saddened to hear of his passing, and I hope his partner and family find peace in the days and years to come. Rest easy my friend.
My heart is so sad to hear of his passing. I’ve known Will since my freshmen year of college and he’s been a sincere friend since. We used to spend so many nights, days, weekends listening to Beastie Boys, watching movies, talking, laughing…I remember one night hanging out we had this moment in our conversation that we both said, “you know, we’re gonna be friends for a long time…not just through college but for years to come.” And we were. Even though we didn’t live near each other since we kept in touch and have loved talking soccer, hockey, music, and his un-shy view on socio-economics lol…I already miss you so much Cadillac Willie. Love you brother
