Robert Woods

1944 - 2026

Robert (Bob) Woods, 82, of Walkertown went home to his Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 8, 2026.

He was born in Forsyth County to Alfred Newton Woods and Hazel Newsome Woods on March 3, 1944. Bob was a member of the first graduating class of East Forsyth High School in 1963. Before his retirement he was owner and operator of Woods Lawn Service. He was an avid fisherman and deer hunter while his health permitted. He took great pride in his years as a volunteer firefighter in Talley’s Crossing Fire Department in Kernersville.

Bob loved his family dearly. He was a devoted husband, daddy and papa. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Wanda Easter Woods; children, Melissa Woods Padden (Mark), Angie Shinault Plummer (Dan) and Jeffrey Shinault; grandchildren, Zachary Branon (Moniquie), Gracie Branon Bolen (Micheal), Kari Plummer (Patrick), Zac Plummer (Ashley), Cade and Drake Padden; great grandchildren, Hazel and Harper Watts and Wyatt and Sarah Plummer. Additionally, he is survived by his dear brother, Gwyn Woods (Maurice), several nieces and nephews and his best fishing buddy, Arlin Sechrist.

The family is grateful for the loving care provided to Bob recently by Mountain Valley Hospice.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 pm on July 18, 2026 at Our Christian Heritage Church, 2051 Old Hollow Rd. Walkertown, NC 27051. We will stream the service live on Facebook. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Our Christian Heritage Church.

Always loved talking to Bob. Loved hearing some of his hunting and fishing stories from ‘days current and passed’’. Bob was very easy going and took the time to talk with you, even if you talked about something that maybe he might not be that interested in. We will all miss you Bob but we know you feel better now and we will all see you again one day! Prayers!

Bob and Wanda were always a source of encouragement and support in our ministry, always loving and helping. I believe Hagan and Bob are praising Jesus together now in Heaven. As the song says “They are standing tall and whole and walking streets of gold.”
No more sickness, nor pain-only Love !

I have know Bob since 1986, met him when I joined Talleys Crossing Fire Department. He was always there when called upon to do any task set before him! He was always kind, friendly, funny, and a great person to have as a friend. A true definition of a Southern Gentleman!! You will be missed by all !!
