Jean Ann Nitsche

1947 - 2025

Jean Ann Nitsche

77, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away on April 7, 2025 surrounded by loved ones after a battle with cancer.

She was predeceased by her high school sweetheart and husband, Frank Nitsche, in 2016. They shared a love that transcended his death, and she rarely took off her wedding rings even after his death. We find some solace that they are reunited. She leaves behind her son, Josh, and his wife Tricia, and daughter Rachel Zutshi and her husband, Ayush. Her high-pitched cheering at sporting events will always be ingrained with our childhood memories. Her grandchildren: Hope, Jacob, Maya, Douglas, Leo, and Ravi will always remember her holiday care packages, especially the yearly Christmas pajamas. She is survived by her brother, Gregory Hubit.

Jean was born on June 4, 1947, in Teaneck, NJ to Francis and Helen Hubit. She graduated from the then named Jersey City college and had a long career as a special education teacher in the Fairview, NJ school system before her retirement. She was an adventurous soul and a caring friend. One of her defining qualities was keeping up with family and friends and the lives of their children. She spent most of her life in NJ amongst her beloved family and friends. Later in life she made Winston-Salem, NC her home. There she branched out and made a new friends who shared in her love of adventure. She even learned Mahjong at the age of 75 and would speak about the games she won!

A celebration of Jean’s life will be held on May 24, 2025 from 3pm-6pm. We ask that those who attend wear something with flair, but we all know that Jean would have been better dressed then the rest of us! The celebration will be held in Winston-Salem with details to be determined.
