Henry Rufus "Buddy" Triplett
1942 - 2026
Henry Rufus Triplett, better known to most as Buddy, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at the age of 83.
Born on August 7, 1943, Buddy spent his entire life in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, a community he loved and proudly called home. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, businessman, veteran, and man of faith whose life was defined by love, service, and hard work.
Buddy shared 58 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Pamela “Kay” Triplett, who preceded him in death on October 24, 2024. Together they built a strong and loving family. He is survived by his son, Bryon Triplett and wife, Jamie; his daughter, Shara Hedrick and her husband, Kevin Hedrick; and his daughter, Laura Propst. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Tiffany Sledge, Shannon Lasley, Bly Triplett, Kirsten Jones, Ashlyn Hedrick, Isaac Hedrick, Levi Hedrick, Eli Propst, and Kaylee Propst; and his great-grandchildren, Zane, Axel, Lyla Jane, Jace, and Ophelia. Family was the center of Buddy’s life, and he treasured every opportunity to spend time with those he loved.
A faithful servant of God, Buddy’s unwavering Christian faith guided him throughout his life. He was a lifelong member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church, where he began serving in ministry at a young age. Over the years, he faithfully served on church boards and in numerous ministries, both in Winston-Salem and later in Lexington. His dedication to his church family and steadfast commitment to serving the Lord left a lasting impact on countless lives.
Buddy also proudly served in the Army National Guard Mobile Infantry from 1966 to 1969 in Winston-Salem. His military service reflected the same sense of duty, responsibility, and commitment to others that he demonstrated throughout his life. During his years of service, he was assigned to the National Guard Armory on Silas Creek Parkway, which later became the site of the 1969 armory explosion that affected many local Guardsmen.
Hard work was no stranger to Buddy. An accomplished builder and entrepreneur, he founded Legacy Incorporated, a family business through which he built homes and completed renovations throughout the region for more than fifty years. The company became more than a business; it became a family legacy. Buddy worked side by side with his son, Bryon, for 41 years and with his son-in-law, Kevin, for 10 years. He took great pride in passing down not only his knowledge of the trade, but also his values of integrity, dedication, and quality craftsmanship. Two of his grandsons also had the privilege of working alongside him, continuing the family tradition and creating memories that will endure for generations.
Those who knew Buddy will remember a man who led by example. Whether in his church, his military service, his business, or his home, he lived with humility, determination, and a servant’s heart. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, offer practical wisdom, or provide encouragement to those in need. His steadfast faith, deep love for family, and tireless work ethic shaped the lives of all who knew him.
While his family and friends mourn his passing, they find comfort in knowing that he has been reunited with his beloved Kay and is resting in the presence of his Lord and Savior.
Buddy leaves behind a lasting legacy of faith, family, hard work, and devotion to others. His influence will continue to be felt through the generations he loved, mentored, and inspired.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Matthew 25:23
