With profound sorrow, we announce the unexpected passing of Dr. Thomas (Tom) Mark Erickson, a cherished resident of Archdale, who departed this life at his home on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, following a sudden and singular heart attack. He was 61 years old.
Born in Stoughton, Wisconsin, on January 31, 1965, Tom was the youngest of six children to the late Norman and Gloria Erickson. He spent his formative years in Wisconsin, where he cultivated a lifelong passion for learning and sports. His academic journey led him to the University of Wisconsin before he pursued his true calling, earning his doctorate degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa.
Dr. Erickson dedicated a decade to the healing art of chiropractic, touching countless lives with his expert care and compassionate approach. He practiced alongside esteemed colleagues, including Dr. Bobby Stroud in Archdale, Dr. Joe Siragusa in Monroe, and his beloved older brother Rick in Winston-Salem, leaving a legacy of well-being and relief for his patients.
Beyond his professional life, Tom’s world revolved around his deep connections with family and friends. He cherished his children, Colin and Payton, and found immense joy and companionship with his beloved girlfriend and best friend, Aileen. His infectious humor, coupled with his keen intellect and profoundly kind demeanor, illuminated every room he entered. Tom was renowned for his encyclopedic knowledge of sports, particularly his beloved Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs, able to recall statistics and game details with astonishing precision and enthusiasm.
His memory will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Gloria Erickson; his brother, Tim Erickson; and his son, Jace Penny.
He is survived by his devoted children, Colin (Jess) Erickson and Payton Erickson; his steadfast partner and best friend, Aileen; his grandson, Addison; and another dear friend, Tim Farris. He also leaves behind his loving siblings: Dr. Rod (Kathy) Erickson of San Diego, California; Jane Erickson of Stoughton, Wisconsin; Dr. Rick (Dr. Megan) Erickson of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; and Peggy Trieloff Erickson of Edgerton, Wisconsin; along with twelve nieces and nephews who will dearly miss their Uncle Tom.
In accordance with his wishes, Tom was cremated at Salem Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Friday, July 31, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed immediately by a brief memorial service to celebrate Tom’s remarkable life at 3:00 PM, both held at Cumby Funeral Home in Archdale, North Carolina.
