Eleanor Dedosia Wonce

1949 - 2024

Eleanor Dedosia Wonce , aged 74, passed away on Wednesday, May 29th 2024. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Eleanor was born on September 18, 1949 in Wilmington, NC,where she spent her formative years, to Mr. Stephany and Mrs. Eleanor Wonce. She arrived in High Point, NC during the 70s. Throughout her life and career, she was known for her hard work, dedication, and passion for helping others. She held many positions including Supply Room Clerk at Macfield/Unfi, Operating her own business, running a daycare center and finally working as a Substitute teacher for Tri-City Christian Academy up until her last 2 months of life.

But more than anything, Eleanor was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend. She raised her children to know the Lord. She was a mother figure to more than can be counted. Her favorite title was given 13 years ago when she became a grandmother to Chloe.

In her free time, Eleanor enjoyed interior design and fashion. She was an active member of Baldwin’s Chapel SDA Church and the community, always volunteering for various causes and organizations.

Preceded in Death by: Grandparents: Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Wilie (Mabel) Matthews , Parents Mr. and Mrs. Stephany (Eleanor) Wonce, Brothers Frank Matthews, Stephen Wonce, and cousins Audrey Harris and Walter Wright.

Eleanor is survived by daughters Mrs. Bennita (Craig) Curtain, Brittany Wonce, granddaughter Chloe Curtain, brother Benjamin (Mary Clay) Wonce, cousins Gloria (Larry) Perry and Margaret McCloud, best friends Juanita Grier and Linda (Ben) Bethea and many more family members and close friends. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Baldwin’s Chapel S.D.A church of High Point, NC.
