Robert Watson Pierce

1941 - 2024

Robert Watson Pierce died peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, September 26, 2024 at the
age of 83. Robert was born to James Robert Pierce and Emma Victoria Watson Pierce on
January 23, 1941. He was preceded in death by his parents also wife Sandra Yvonne Fletcher
Pierce, a son Talmadge “Tal” Eugene Pierce with whom he shared his love of baseball with. It
brought Daddy great joy watching his son play. His sister Rebecca Pierce Clodfelter, also
preceded him in death. He is survived by his 3 daughters, Teri Pierce Voss (Lawrence), Devita
“Dee Dee” Pierce (Donald Truell) Risti Pierce. He left behind 6 grandchildren and 18
great grandchildren. Also, a brother James Calvin Pierce.
Mr. Pierce worked 50 years for Hunter Publishing Company which later became Jostens
Printing Company. He was a lead pressman for most of his years there and took great pride in
his work. His family will always remember the ink-stained hands showing his hard work and
pride for his job. He enjoyed family time. Teri, shared his love for sports. Always defending our
individual favorites and making excuses when we lost. “Dee Dee” sat at the kitchen table every
Sunday morning from a young age reading the newspaper. Afterwards they would debate what
they had read. Daddy always said, “Know what you are talking about before you open your
mouth and speak”. Risti, “the baby” who came later in life allowing them to spend many days
together. His favorite being at the softball fields every weekend watching 2 of his
granddaughters play in softball tournaments. He was known as “Grampy” to everyone, both
parents and softball players.
Robert loved all sports, but his favorite was car racing at all levels. He and his brother travelled
to numerous Nascar racetracks over the years. Dirt racing became his favorite event nothing
better than being covered in red dirt on a Friday or Saturday night for him and his brother. His
favorite Nascar team was RCR because when Austin and Ty Dillon were running dirt, “they were
so respectful and kind” always taking time to talk to daddy. He would say they were “2 of the
nicest boys you could meet”.

The family will have a Celebration Of Life on Saturday, November 9, 2024 from 2:00 PM – 4:00
PM. It will be held at Pinnacle Baptist Church, 1054 E Old Phillips Road, Pinnacle NC 27043.
In lieu of flowers please send donations to Brenner’s Children Pediatric Hospital, Atrium Health
Wake Forest Baptist Hospital and/or Samaritan’s Purse for those affected by Helena.

    My Sweet Risti,
    I never knew your Daddy, but he had to be a wonderful man to have the Sweetest & Most Thoughtful Daughter like You, my dear Sweet Friend. Love You So Very Much & I’m so very very sorry for the loss of your “Daddy”. R.I.P. Sweet Man. Me & my family will watch over your Baby Girl “Risti”. 🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼
