Martha Barron Hall of King, NC passed away on Sunday, August 18th, 2024 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice in Winston Salem, NC.

Born in Beckley, WV on December 27th, 1943, Martha was the daughter of the late Robert Patton Barron and Monette Collier Barron of Eccles, WV. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, James (Jim) Hall of King, NC; her daughter, Deborah (Debbie) Hall Belcher of King, NC; her son, James (Jim) Hall II (wife, Crystal) of Danbury, NC, and her brother, Millard Edward Barron (wife, Patte) of Atlanta, GA. She was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Michael Hall (Mike) of Daleville, VA; her brother Thomas Patton Barron of Hurricane, WV; and her brother Robert Patton Barron II of Eccles, WV. Martha had 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

She grew up in Eccles, WV as a coal miner’s daughter and was the only girl with three beloved brothers, Tom, Bobby and Millard. In her younger years she loved to fish and hunt and was a true country girl. After many years as a camper at Camp Thomas E. Lightfoot (near Hinton, WV), Martha became a camp counselor. She graduated from Trap Hill High School in 1961 in Surveyor, WV and later obtained an Associates Degree in Business from the College of WV. She was retired from Beaver Coal Company of Beckley, WV, where she dedicated 33 years of service. She was a former member of Beckley Presbyterian Church and a current member of King Moravian Church in King, NC.

Before her health declined, she enjoyed yard work, maintaining her flowers, being out in nature, reading, and listening to music of all genres. She was an avid sports fan of the WV Mountaineers and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Martha touched a lot of lives in her 80 years and will be terribly missed by her husband, Jim, her family, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to the King Moravian Church’s music department at 228 W. Dalton Rd, King, NC 27021.

I am so sorry to hear about your mom Jimmy. I know that Martha had to have been a very, very special woman because she and your dad raised a wonderful son that we consider our own family. Sending a lot of love from our house to all of yours. A hole will be in your heart, a void that will never be filled. You learn to fill it with memories over time. Love, Wayne and Susan

I am so sad to hear of Martha’s passing. Martha (and the entire Hall family) were such a large part of my Eccles childhood, and provided nothing but fond memories. RIP Martha! My condolences to the Hall & Barron families.
