George Ervin Ingle
1948 - 2021
George Ervin Ingle, 73, of Tobaccoville, North Carolina, passed away in the comfort of his home
on December 30th due to a chronic medical condition. He was born in 1948 in Buncombe
County, North Carolina to Roy and Nancy Ingle.
George spent his working career as a nuclear industrial welder across the United States. He
later retired to spend the last few years of his life with his family and doing the things he loved
most; riding ATV’s throughout West Virginia, kayaking the rivers with his family, and working in
his yard.
He loved one woman his entire life, having been married to his spouse Ruth for 54 years. He
was an amazing father to their two children Jeannie and George. A loving grandfather,
great-grandfather, and best friend to David (Logan).
He was survived by his wife Ruth Tilley Ingle of Tobaccoville NC, daughter Jeannie Logan
(David) of Pfafftown NC, son George Ingle Jr. (Wendy) of King NC, Grandchildren: Eric
Bormann (Lillian), Sarah Ingle, Seth Ingle, and Savannah Ingle, great-granddaughter Aylah
Bormann, and many extended family members as well including his sister Pat Ingle of Virginia
Beach VA and brother Ronnie Ingle of Asheville NC. He was preceded in death by his parents
Roy and Nancy Ingle, and siblings Roy Ingle, Vernie Lunsford, Ethel Peterson, Mary Lawton,
and Betty Jean Banks.
George was a man that you knew you could depend on and could always take him at his word.
His sacrifices for his family are countless and selfless and to them, he is nothing less than a
Hero. He impacted every life he touched and the world will never be the same without him.
A special thank you to the people at Trellis Supportive Care Hospice for their loving care and
support during his final days.
A private celebration of life ceremony with his family will be held at a future date. Memorials can
be made in his honor to the Head and Neck Cancer Foundation or Trellis Supportive Care
Hospice of Stokes County NC.

God saw that he was getting tired,
A cure was none to be,
So he put His arms around him
And whispered, “Come with Me.”
With tearful eyes, we watched him suffer,
And saw him fade away,
Although we loved him dearly,
We could not make him stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes “the Best”.
My husband and I lived in the same neighborhood as George and Ruthie for 20 years. We knew his son George Jr and Wendy. We always waved at the Engle’s as we rode by their home. Always a smile and a wave from them. God bless you all, you are in our prayers. RIP George Sr.

I am glad I knew you in this life, George. You were a good friend to me and to Fred and I know we will see you again one day. You fought the good fight and you finished your race, now go rest high on that mountain. Knowing you, you’re probably carving out trails on it already 😊

Ruthie and to your family I am so sorry for your loss. I have traveled this road and I know the pain you must be experiencing. However, you are left with beautiful memories and I believe you have many. God will bring comfort to all of you. Sending you love and prayers.

George was one of a kind. I never met anyone else that would tell you at first introduction about the love of his life. He was smitten with Ruthie from day one and wasn’t ashamed to tell. Most loyal, loving, dedicated, responsible (she is my responsibility, he would say) husband. His family and friends met everything to him. He will be missed by all that new and love him. Where do i start? The strongest yet kindest, the toughest yet always fair. My role model, super hero, teacher, counselor, friend and father. I love you dad and i miss you so much. I’ve always looked up to you and that will never stop. I will see you again and can’t wait for that reunion. I love you so much pop.
My papaw was one of the strongest people I have ever known. He was so caring, and would help anyone with anything, no matter what. Oh what I would do for another one of his hugs, and to hear him say “I love you better” just one more time. I love you so much papaw, and I miss you more than words can explain. I hope you’re having the best time in Heaven.
I read this and have chills run thru my body. I have know this man as long as i have known his wife over 55 years. He always told me if i ever needed anything to just call and he would be there. He got up at 5am 2 years ago to take me to Kernersville Hospital to be operated on. His wife stayed with me the first night. He came to my sale at my home after my dad had passed away and all he talked about was how much he loved his wife. I would be so lucky to have found a man like him. His family and close friends were his life. He will be missed by all of us. But Jesus needed him worse than we did. No more pain and suffering.
