
Syretha Robinson
1932 - 2025
Syretha Flynt Robinson passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on Monday, February 10th,
2025. Syretha or Minister Robinson, as most may know her, was born in Winston-Salem, NC, on
May 19, 1932, to the late Nette Flynt and Silas Buchanon. She attended Greensboro’s Agricultural
and Technical College of North Carolina to receive her Dietitian Certificate in Culinary Arts as she
worked at Kimberly Park Elementary School and Fourteen Street Middle School. She retired with 25
years of service from Burlington Socks Industries in Kernersville, NC, then decided to continue her
education at Forsyth Technical Community College to become a CNA. She then worked for the
Brookridge Retirement Community for ten years then opened her own business as an elderly care
giver, until she retired to take care of her beloved husband until his passing.
Our loving mother was active in the church for decades. She attended Kimberly Park Holiness
Church, Ambassador Cathedral, New Faith Chapel, and Piney Grove Baptist Church. She was an
associate minister, member of various choirs, started vacation bible schools and children church
programs throughout her ministry, but her most important work was being a member of the
Missionary Board. She loved caring for and helping people of all ages but, was partial to helping the
elderly. In her spare time, she enjoyed hosting family and friends, studying the bible, traveling,
singing, reading and reciting poetry.
Syretha is preceded in death by her loving husband, John Thomas Robinson, Senior, to whom she
was married for 54 years. Her granddaughter Ethel Syretha Steele, three great-grands: KJ, Kenya,
and Kendra Steele. She is survived by her sister Dometric France, brother Bernard Flynt Sr.,
children, Wanda Robinson-Caton (Christopher), Patricia Robinson, John Robinson Jr. (Sylivia),
Sharon Young (Henry), Marilyn Crump (Carlton). Grandchildren: Antonio Robinson, D’mon
Robinson, Bronell Taylor, Jamie Penn, James Penn, Robert Thorn III, Christopher Caton Jr., Adeline
Maree, Jonathon Robinson, Jason Robinson, Cameron Crump and Jasmine Crump, great-
grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
A celebration of Syretha’s life will be held at a later date.
Mama Robinson was a wonderful example of what a Godly woman should be! She loved without limits and unconditionally! God and her family meant everything to her. Take your rest now sweet, beautiful lady! ❤️
To Marilyn, Carlton and the entire family, take refuge in the Lord! We only had the pleasure of meeting this sweet, beautiful lady on a couple occasions but she made a loving and lasting impression!
