Ronnie Earl Sealey

1950 - 2025

Ronnie Earl Sealey, age 75, passed away peacefully in his home on June 16, 2025.

Born January 28, 1950, Ronnie served in the U.S. Army for 15 years, a journey that took him across the globe. From overseas to cross-country travels, Ronnie collected a lifetime of stories. Each tale was always shared with a grin, a twinkle in his eye, and followed his famous greeting: “What’s happenin’?”

Ronnie was a simple man with humble values. He believed in kindness, honesty and lending a helping hand to anyone in need. He never met a stranger and would give without ever expecting anything in return.

Ronnie had a deep love for animals, especially cats. He had a lifelong love for Duke basketball, never missing a game cheering loudly for his blue devils.

Known as “daddy” to one and “Pawpaw” to most, Ronnie cherished his family above all. He spent 34 loving years with his wife, Sharon Sealey. Ronnie’s love for his only daughter, his pride and joy—Amy Sealey (David), was known by everyone near and far — a bond that remained unshakable through every chapter of life. He was also a proud father figure to Rebecca Johnson (Bruce), Pamela Walker (Billy), and Jeremy McDowell. Ronnie also shared a lifetime of cherished memories and strong family bonds with his siblings.

Ronnie shared a special loving bond with his granddaughter Brittany Johnson, who brought him endless pride and joy. He was also a devoted Pawpaw to Amber Walker, Austin Johnson, Ashlin Eccles, Cole, Maddie, and Monroe McDowell and a loving Great-Grandpa to six great-grandchildren.

Ronnie will be remembered for his storytelling spirit, his kind heart, and the strength that made him a steady light in the lives of those around him.

Services will be announced by the family at a later time.

    Pawpaw,

I’ll remember a lot of things about you. My favorite thing was your love for animals. I was always excited to see what cat, dog, rabbit or even pig would be there when I got to Pawpaw’s house. I know Cowboy is overjoyed to see you again.

I remember bouncing up the steps one day wearing sunglasses and you calling out “hey Hollywood.” And then you kept calling me that, sometimes even without the glasses.

You were the only grandfather I ever really knew. I can’t thank you enough for that.

    Love,
