Roger Lee Kingsley

1954 - 2025

Roger Lee Kingsley died on July 19, 2025 at the age of 70.

Roger was a husband, dad, papa and friend to many. He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Kingsley, mother, Alberta Kingsley, children Ryan (Amy) Kingsley, Lindsey (Jeff) Brummett, Kelsey (James) DeBusk, and Daylon Kingsley.  He was a proud papa to Kyra, Lillie, Ruby, Abe, and Annabelle.

Roger was born on September 29, 1954 in Wellington, KS. He enjoyed country life in Conway Springs, KS, growing up and making trouble with his five siblings. The highlight of his youth included choir as a member of the Cardinalaires and various sports, especially baseball. He was a skilled third baseman and his love of baseball carried throughout his life. He graduated from Conway Springs High School in 1972.

Roger made his living as an aircraft painter and other miscellaneous jobs, many including driving. He loved a good drive- always with the radio on.

He loved cracking jokes and his quick wit was paired with perfect timing. Roger loved baseball and visited many stadiums across the US while traveling, which was another passion. His favorite destination was the beach.

Yet none of his loves could top the affection he had for his family. Roger loved watching his kids live their dreams, adored his grandkids, and served his wife tirelessly.

Roger is preceded in death by his oldest daughter, Aubrey Simmons, his dad, Ivan Kingsley and grandparents Charles and Bessie Kingsley and Leo and Mary Ann Stump.

A casual Celebration of Life and light lunch will be held on Saturday, August 9 at 11 a.m. at Riverlawn Christian Church (South Entrance) in Wichita, KS. Guests can feel free to wear Roger’s longtime fashion choice- a Hawaiian shirt. There will be no graveside service. The family is asking in lieu of flowers due to travel, feel free to bless Debbie with cards of encouragement or Walmart giftcards to 102 Kellystone Dr Apt 53, King, NC 27021.

Roger was my father-in-law as I was Aubrey’s husband. I have shared this with his children already, but I thought I would share this here as well.

Roger loved his kids. At each of their weddings, he was quiet but had the largest smile and moist eyes. He was so proud of them all. When Aubrey graduated with her Masters in Education, he was once again quiet and smiling. He came up to her and told her he was so proud of her. He said he loved to tell people his daughter was a teacher!

I will say, Roger was not always vocal about his feelings. When Aubrey died, I sat with him before the funeral for a moment. We spoke a few words and then he went up, put a hand on Aubrey’s urn and cried. It was the first time I saw him do that.

To me, this showed how much he loved his kids. He might have been a little cranky at times, but his heart always came back to love.

I met Roger when I was 14. Aubrey and I were the best of friends and Roger treated me like I was another daughter. He was always kind to me and loved to tease and joke. I will miss him very much. I imagine he and Aubrey are laughing together right now. Rest in peace Dad.

I grew up with the great Roger Kingsley in Conway Springs, KS. He was my 3rd cousin (I think) on the Stump side and he called me “cuz”. He was one of the kindest, funniest people on the planet and always so much fun to hang out with. Everyone loved him. I loved him and his bright red hair. He was always getting himself into trouble but that didn’t stop him from his funny antics. We lost touch through the years but reconnected with each other again a few years ago on Facebook. He will be missed by so many and never ever forgotten. RIP “cuz” til we meet again.
