Louis Waddell Campbell
1942 - 2024
Louis Waddell Campbell, fondly known as “Buddy”, of Winston-Salem, NC transitioned to his
heavenly home on May 5, 2024. He was born on March 1, 1942, in Winston-Salem, NC to Viola
Clement Campbell and George Washington Campbell, Jr., who both preceded him in death. In
addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Annie Campbell Robinson.
He attended public schools in Winston-Salem. Following high school, Louis enlisted in the
United States Air Force and served a tour of duty in England. Upon leaving the US Air Force, he
returned home and began his employment career with the US Postal Service. Subsequent to that,
he moved to Newark, NJ where he initially resided with a special aunt, Mrs. Belvia Gaither
Caldwell and her family. He earned an associate degree in accounting and was employed by

waves. He loved to cook and embellish any story he had to tell. His smile was contagious and he
enjoyed playing basketball, card games and fellowship with his friends and family. Louis
returned to Winston-Salem where he resided until his death.

(Michelle) of Walkertown, NC; a special daughter, Vivian Foster Bates (Keith) of Washington,
