Judith Barnier

1943 - 2025

Judith “Judy” Allyne Barnier (Dodd), 82, of Winston-Salem, passed away, Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Forsyth Medical Center after a period of declining health.

Born, February 14, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert Russell Dodd and Eleanor Jane Smith Dodd. Judy and her family moved from Detroit to Phoenix, Arizona, where she was raised. After graduating from Camelback High School, she married the love of her life, Albert B. Barnier, Jr, on September 23, 1961. Judy took several college and extension courses throughout her adult life to support her many interests with the goal of furthering her skills without regard for obtaining a degree.

Judy was a beloved Matriarch, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. A talented seamstress, creative force, and a knowledgeable inimitable artist of many mediums. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends are blessed to have her authentically and genuinely stitched into the fabric of their lives. She tackled each day with courage, love, grace, and a sense of humor.

Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband of 63 years, Albert Barnier; son, Robert Barnier; daughters, Jean “Gigi” Burke (Vince), Janette Scott, and Jenifer Krall (Travis); grandchildren, Montana Burke, Amanda Burke, Jordan Tonsguard, Journey Scott, Jack Towler, Navarr Barnier, Carol Ann Krall, Alexia Krall, and Damien Earls; five great-grandchildren; brother, James Dodd (Marianne); and beloved extended family members and friends.

A celebration of Judy’s life will be at a later date.
