In remembrance of :
Harley (Harless) Lacy Beckner
July 9th, 1963-August 13, 2024

“Harley”, {Harless} Lacy Beckner, 61, of Walkertown, NC, passed away on August 13th 2024 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, in Winston Salem, NC, from liver cancer-disease.

Harley was the 5th of 6 children, born July 9th 1963 in Alexandria, Va. to Hershell LeRoy & Bobbie Sue Britten Beckner.

Harley enjoyed being outdoors & looked forward to trout season and swimming in the creek each year while growing up on Wolf Creek during some of his early years. Much of the family originated from Grapefield, Va, which was better known to all as Wolf Creek.

Harley lived in many places over the course of his life. While his early years were spent on Wolf Creek, his teen years and into his twenties were spent in Calvert County Maryland. He relocated to Texas in the 90’s, where he lived for near 20 years. In 2012 he moved to Oakridge, NC & later to Walkertown, NC, where he remained until his death.

When Harley moved to NC, he took up a hobby of making walking sticks. He would look for just the right fallen branch from a tree, which he would sand down, stain and shellac. He had already decided who it would be given to and how tall it should be according to their height.

Harley spent much of his work life in construction, from drywall mechanic to roofing & carpentry. During his residence in Texas, he also worked on an oil rig.

Harley was outgoing and spoke to everyone, always a yes ma’am, and no sir. He would give to those without, even when he had little, as he knew their pain. He looked forward to seeing any wildlife who showed up at the back deck daily looking for food. He always had a little something for them.

Designated evenings were set aside for a follow up call with our mom to make predictions on who would win on the T.V. show, “The Voice” as well as “America’s Got Talent”. Mama said he was usually correct in most of his guesses.

Harley also enjoyed holiday cookouts, Fritos crunched up in Chili which he called chili soup, country music, especially Willie Nelson… and he always ended his goodbyes with, “I Love You More” to everyone he cared for. He enjoyed watching things grow, and was big on keeping the grass maintained.

Harley leaves behind a daughter, Nikki (Nicole) Siske (Brad) along with three grandchildren, Gavin, Brody, & Mia Siske of the Annapolis area in Md. Harley also leaves behind his mother, Bobbie Sue Beckner of Florida. He was preceded in death by his dad Hershell LeRoy Beckner, Paternal grandparents Harless LeRoy & Flora Lee Kidd Beckner and Maternal Grandparents Lacy Cubine Sr & Olga Lake Kidd Britten.
Harley leaves behind 3 sisters and 2 brothers, which includes Kirk Beckner (Donna) of Clearwater Fla., Moquieta Beckner (Mike Eppard) of Kernersville, NC, Sabrina Notter, of Daytona Beach, Fla., Michael Beckner Sr of Walkertown, NC and Sonya Beckner (Jose Galindez Tovar, partner) of Daytona Beach, Fla.

He leaves behind many friends, cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces & nephews, as well as great aunts, uncles, nieces & nephews, all too many to count. We love & will miss you, Harley.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at a later time, date to be announced.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kate B Reynolds Hospice Home 101 Hospice House Winston Salem, NC 27103
