Dennis Arthur Carpenter
1954 - 2024
Dennis Arthur Carpenter, aged 69, passed away on July 28, 2024, in Winston Salem, North
Carolina. Born on July 31, 1954, in Marion, Ohio, Dennis was a man of loving and
compassionate nature, paired with a quirky and unique character. He proudly referred to himself
as "Dennis the Menace”, a nod to his playful spirit.
He embarked on his educational journey at Silver Street Elementary School and graduated from
Marion Harding High School in 1972. Dennis furthered his education at Ohio Wesleyan
University, where he studied Mathematics and Psychology. His academic background paved the
way for a successful 30-year career as a Reliability Engineer, contributing significantly to
companies like Frigidaire, Whirlpool, Electrolux, Hubbell, and Genesis Motion Solutions.
Dennis was a devote Christian and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day
Saints, where he also engaged in his love for music. His musical talents extended to singing
and playing the guitar and piano. Beyond music, his passion for numbers and his love for ice
cream were well-known among his loved ones.
Dennis leaves behind a loving family, including his loving wife, Catherine; brothers, Tom
Carpenter (Mary Jo) and Lynn Carpenter (Ruth); sons, Michael Carpenter (Nancy) and David
Carpenter (Terah); stepchildren, Erika Barringer (Jermell) and Daniel Todd (Jessi). He was a
cherished grandfather to Cheyenne Kish (Jon), Kayla, Dawson, Kenzie, Devon, Sage Jordan,
Poet Jordan, Madisen Barringer, Graysen Barringer, Addilynn Todd, and Lucas Todd, and a
great-grandfather to Thomas Leddick. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elsie, and
Murray Carpenter.
A memorial service will be held in his honor on Saturday, August 3rd at 2:00pm at The
Tanglewood Building of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. In lieu of flowers,
contributions may be made to the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in remembrance of Dennis.
His memory will be cherished by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing
him.
We never met but I felt I knew Dennis through his loving wife Cathie who I have thankfully been a friend for 25 years plus rest in peace Dennis ❤️❤️❤️
