Daniel Walter Donathan
1944 - 2024
After a lengthy illness, Dan was called to his Heavenly home on October 1, 2024. He was a man with a huge heart and smile, always ready and willing to help someone in need. He visited the sick, the shut-ins and loved to take a pie to the widows of the church. Dan was not a perfect man but he loved his Lord Jesus Christ.
Dan was born August 17, 1944 in Surry County, NC to the late Walter and Beatrice Donathan. Dan was a NC State graduate and a proud Marine. He owned and operated United Limited Engineering until his health would not allow him to work.
He was a member of the First Pentecostal Holiness Church where for a time, he served as a Deacon and offered assistance where he was needed. For the last 14 years he attended Harvest Time Church of God in King, NC.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Stephen William Donathan and a nephew, Jamie Anderson Goins. He is survived by his loving companion and caregiver, Karen Southern and his dog Emily. He was a father figure to her children, Kelly Chatman, Tim Chatman and grandson Tyler Chatman and 3 great grandchildren; a sister, Ann Wagoner; a brother Rick (Shirley) Donathan, along with many nieces and nephews; a special friend, Amanda Messick.
He is also survived by daughters Candy (Chris) Arnett, Wendy (Don) Gibbs; grandchildren, Christopher, Kayla, Brooke and six great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 26 at Harvest Time Church of God, 312 Newsome Rd, King, NC at 3:00 pm. Memorials can be made to the Derrick L Davis Cancer Center (Novant Health) or Harvest Time Church.
Rick, Shirley, Ann, all Family and Friends, I am so sorry for your loss. I know you will miss Dan. My thoughts and prayers are with you. My the Lord wrap his arms around you for comfort. Love You 💗🙏
