Clifford “Cliff” Cartrette, 79, of Wilmington, NC, passed away on December 16, 2023 in Vale, NC. Born on March 22, 1944, in Wilmington, Cliff was a father, grandfather, and a dedicated individual who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Cliff had a deep love for the beach and enjoyed spending time fishing. He found solace in the calming waters and the thrill of reeling in a big catch. Cliff’s passion for the outdoors was evident in his zest for life.
Cliff is survived by his children, Joyce Facciolo, Wanda Coogan, Cliff Cartrette Jr., Suzette Reilly, Jennifer Moss, and Melissa Etters. He was a cherished grandfather. He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Cartrette, his mother, Marybelle Smith, his sister, Sylvia Cartrette, and his grandson, Braidon Moss.
Cliff proudly served in the Air Force for four years, demonstrating his commitment to his country. He was a dedicated serviceman, embodying the values of honor, duty, and loyalty.
After his military service, Cliff pursued a career as a trucker, traversing the roads with determination and professionalism. He also served as a civil servant on both the police force and for the sheriff’s department. Cliff’s dedication to public service was commendable, and he made a positive impact in his community.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date to honor and celebrate Cliff’s life. The details of the service will be announced in due course.
