Some of my fondest childhood memories were made at Aunt Carol’s. She cooked me my first steak, took me on my first trip to Hanging Rock. I think she was all about letting kids be kids and I loved that about her. With big brown bags of popcorn in hand, all us kids gathered in the living room once a year to watch The Wizard of Oz and The Sound of Music while the grown ups played cards. There was a sense of belonging that just felt like home. My last conversation with her was in a grocery store parking lot. Though already feeble, she took the time to talk about good times through the years and how these things shaped her and taught her to appreciate life more. She taught me that life doesn’t have to be perfect to be good.

My thoughts are with you, Mark, Dawn, Teresa and family as your hearts adjust to the loss. Rest easy, Carol. Much love to you all. 💜
