Billy Gray Sapp
1954 - 2024
Billy Gray Sapp of Pfafftown, NC passed away peacefully at home on August 10, 2024, at the age of 70. Born in Forsyth County, NC to Roscoe Gray “Jack” and Earlene Fletcher Sapp. At 17 he enlisted in the US Army. While stationed in Korea, he met his devoted wife of 51 years, Hwa Cha “Sara” Hyon. In 1975, he was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and served faithfully until his death. He was the owner of Westside Motor Company for 28 years. His honest and fair reputation in business preceded him.
Fishing was a favorite pastime, and he adored teaching his grandkids. He was known to be able to fix just about anything, especially with a roll of duct tape. He was an avid NASCAR fan and gardener; enjoyed hiking in the mountains and surf fishing at the beach. He was truly a friend to all; to know him was to love him.
After being diagnosed with an incurable illness, he found comfort in God’s promise of resurrection (Joh 5:28-9). He actively shared the Bible’s teachings for 49 years. Billy’s faith was the cornerstone of his life, evident in the way he approached his work, interacted with strangers, as well as those he knew and loved.
Billy is survived by his beloved wife, Sara (of the home); two daughters, Maria (Doug) Hughes of Austin TX and Julie Johnston of Winston-Salem, NC; grandchildren, Beauregard Gray Sapp, Danielle, Annabel and Lyla Hughes; siblings, Jackie Davis, Danny Sapp and Iris (Mark) Duncan; cousin Carol (Gary) McHone; several aunts, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, take time to offer a kind word or help someone in need, he would want that.
Please join us for a memorial service on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 2 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses 4665 Murray Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27106.

Johova GOD knows that all of us close to him over part of his lifetime will Truly miss Billy. Although I know he is not suffering anymore and is in a better place than we are. I know. I will truly miss his company as we had a lot of fun over the years joking around with each Outher! Bill. I will miss you allways. From Donnie Phillips. Your Friend !
Billy you will always be in my heart…I love you brother
We have known Billy and Sara since the mid-1970’s when he was stationed at Ft Hood, Texas. We had the honor to teach Sister Sapp the truth about God’s Kingdom and the wonderful promises that are in store for his faithful servants, like Billy and Sara. So Billy was introduced to Jehovah in Texas, and that introduction produced a friendship, first with his Heavenly Father and with us.
We are saddened when we hear of our friends and brothers/ sisters have fallen asleep in death. But we also smile in knowing that Billy name is written in the Book of Life / Remembrance and one
day very soon….he will hear Christ Jesus voice…”You have rested long enough, Billy! It is time to get back to work…there is plenty of work that still needs to be done, especially the teaching of the
resurrected ones of long ago. There will always be eternal place in the heart of Jehovah and the Cooper family for friends like Billy and Sara. We love you Sara, We Will See Billy Soon !!!!
Papy, as we affectionately call him in our home, left an indelible mark on our lives. With Beau by his side, he’d whisk the boys away on thrilling adventures, filling their days with laughter and joy. His soothing presence and warm smile made us feel part of family in his home. We’ll deeply miss Papy. His absence will be felt by everyone who knew him. Who will be there to lend a hand when friends need to move? Who will repair our roofs after a flood? His kindness and generosity inspired us all, and his legacy will live on in our hearts.
May Jehovah strengthen you, Sara. You are in our prayers. John 3:16
RIP Mr Sapp, you will be greatly missed. Daniel and Georgina
We two have know Billy and Sara 1973. Billy and I study the Bible with Brother Cooper at the same time but got baptism at different locations. He was Baptized in North Carolina,I was baptized in Texas. Sara and Sun Hui were baptized in Texas. After they moved back to North Carolina we stayed in contact by telephone.
Billy showed the type of love him and Sara had when he dropped everything he was doing and brought a truck and trailer to Texas to help us move. To North Carolina. We were there when there first child was born that in it self was an exciting time.
Ours kids also grew up together. We shared several family outings and vacations together. Now fifty years later our love for each grew. Not only as spiritual family we grew as close a fleshly family could be.
We are really going to miss you so very much Billy.
We also know that soon Jehovah God will bring an end to all the many problems that we face each and every day when he brings the world into a paradise condition.
Billy remember that you are and will be in Jehovah’s memory.
But now our friend is sleeping in a peaceful condition. So brother enjoy your nap. Yes our dear friend is gone for now but will never be forgotten.
See you soon in the new world.
Much love Roger and Sun Hui
Words can’t describe what Billy meant to the Foster/Farr families over the years. He found ways of helping out in ways that were so appreciated. Randy still tells stories of events where Billy taught him how to work hard, and drive hard too. He even found a side of my father non else had seen. Until we see him just around the corner, and that big personality shines brightly again. Thankyou for everything Billy…
We miss you so much Poppy. Not a day goes by that we don’t think of you and wish you were still with us. You were Beau’s father figure for 17 years. When I doubt myself, I remember how proud you were of us and it gives me the momentum to push forward. You taught me everything I needed to know so I could pass it onto him. Your shining example taught Beau how to be a better person and a good man, for that we are eternally grateful. Go rest high. I promise next time we see you, we aren’t letting go.
Love,
Julie Bug and Beauby
