Betty Sapp Mikles

1933 - 2024

Betty Sapp Mikles, age 91, of Walnut Cove, was called home to be with her Lord, Tuesday,
December 3, 2024.

Betty was born in Forsyth County on June 25, 1933, the seventh of eight children, to Harvey
Edward Sr. and Gracie Livengood Sapp.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Leon Mikles, a daughter, Vickie Lynn Mikles
and a grandson, Jason Godfrey.

Leon, Betty’s husband, answered the call to preach in 1960. Fall Creek Baptist Church of
Jonesville, NC elected Leon to be their pastor in 1961. Leon and Betty served there for over
twenty years. After leaving Fall Creek, they served at Maranatha Baptist and Mount Sinai
Baptist. When the Lord took Leon home in December 2011, they had been serving at Rachel
Baptist Church in Shepherd’s Crossroads for eleven years. Betty enjoyed being a pastor’s wife
and serving God. She played the piano, by ear, for many services and programs for over 50
years. Betty loved to bake and often had a pie or a cake to share with friends and neighbors.
Betty had many flowers and enjoyed working in her flower gardens.

Betty is survived by two daughters, Bonnie McDowell of Madison and Melissa Wagoner (Mike)
of North Wilkesboro; one son, Tim Mikles (Sarah-Anne) of Walnut Cove; Eight grandchildren,
Marci Bowlin (Jason), Justin Godfrey (Sandy), Stephen Mikles (Rebecca), Bradley Mikles
(Virginia), Leon Mikles, Amber Rubio (Cristhian), Aimee Kempter (Steven), and Andy Kempter;
Eleven great-grandchildren, Michael Godfrey, Nathaniel Godfrey, Austin Bowlin (Hattie), Ethan
Bowlin, Dylan Bowlin (Kate), Lylith Mikles, Isabel Mikles, John Mikles, Sebastian Rubio,
Leonardo Rubio and Arianna Rubio; A great-great-granddaughter Audileigh Bowlin is expected
in April 2025.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for 2:00 pm, December 14, 2024, at Fall Creek Baptist Church,
Jonesville, NC.
