Anyce Donaldson

1948 - 2025

Anyce Donaldson, of North Myrtle Beach, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends on April 25th, 2025, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, NC.

A celebration of life will be held on May 24 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM (floating) at Maple Chase Golf and Country Club in Winston-Salem, NC.

Anyce is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Mike Donaldson; her daughter, Dena Carroll, and son-in-law, Kyle; her only grandchild, Thomas (Summer Harris); and her beloved dog, Chloe. Raised in King, NC, she was the daughter of the late Amos and Isabel Smith and had three siblings: Linda (late Jimmy) Lankford, Arthur Smith, and Ronnie (Shiela) Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews. Anyce was a dedicated mother to Dena and grandmother to Thomas, as well as a loving second mother to her many “adopted” children over the years. She and Mike could always be found in the stands cheering on Dena and Thomas in their numerous sports or school activities.

Throughout her career, Anyce nurtured many while working as a secretary at King Elementary and later utilized her organizational skills as Executive Director of the King Chamber of Commerce. Her family and friends will fondly remember her exceptional talents in decorating, cooking, and as the best “personal shopping assistant”. She often joked that her hardest job was keeping Mikey in line.

A fantastic cook, Anyce carried on the culinary legacy of the Smith women before her. She had a green thumb, always maintaining a beautiful yard and bountiful garden. Her loved ones will cherish the home-cooked meals and camaraderie shared around her table.

Anyce enjoyed spending time with friends, listening to live music, especially at the OD horseshoe. She could also cut a rug and often attended SOS with her husband Mike to watch world-class shaggers compete. She found joy in maintaining her connection to six lifelong girlfriends and countless other friends made over the years, including those formed during her and Mike’s time at the beach.

Special thanks to all who have helped and loved Anyce through this last journey: Dwain and Lorrie White, Butch and Kathy Broome, Mark and Sandy Gough, Charles and Sallie Darnell, Tasha and Judy Thomas, Stacey Rothrock, Ann Wilson, the doctors and staff at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Cancer Center, and the staff at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Trellis Supportive Care (Hospice).
