Allen Edward Stanley
1943 - 2025
Allen Edward (Skip) Stanley III, 82, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2025, in Pfafftown, North Carolina—the same day he celebrated his birthday. Born on September 24, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois, Skip lived a full and vibrant life marked by humor, devotion to family and friends, and an unmistakable presence that left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Skip was a proud graduate of RJ Reynolds High School and went on to further his education at Duke University and UNC-Charlotte. His professional life was spent largely in sales, and he concluded his career with Advanced Voting Systems before enjoying a well-earned retirement.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Jo Anne Beck Stanley; his daughter, Erika Stanley McAllister (Tom, his son-in-law); Jamie Stanley (his daughter-in-law) four cherished grandchildren: Avery Stanley, Banks Stanley, Erin McAllister, and Luke McAllister. His sisters- in-law Sherry Blalock (Tim) and Jan Ritchie (Joe) and several nieces and nephews. Skip took great pride in his family and joy in their company.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Scott Avery Stanley, who passed away on November 26, 2024. He also joins his parents, Allen and Helen Stanley.
A man of deep faith—Skip was a member of Pfafftown Christian Church for over fifty years where he took great pride in calling himself the “largest Christian in Pfafftown”.
An avid golfer, he found joy on the greens and fairways. Whether sharing stories during a round with friends or simply enjoying competing, golf was one of his favorite pastimes.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
A Memorial Service will be held on November 1, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Pfafftown Christian Church 3323 Transou Road
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to Pfafftown Christian Church or to a charity of your choice.
“Skip” was a person of belief! He never was shy about giving his opinion! Will never forget talking sports, eating lunches, going to Y and his views on politics. He loved Duke! Rest in Peace
My time with Skip goes way back to high school.
The description given here fits him perfectly:
“Skip lived a full and vibrant life marked by humor, devotion to family and friends, and an unmistakable presence that left a lasting impression on all who knew him.”
I’ll always treasure our friendship and his sense of humor! We shared so many memorable and pleasurable times together. I’ll miss him dearly. He really loved his son Scott, his wife Jo, and his daughter Erika.

It’s hard to imagine Skip not being in the world any more. I remember playing with him in the back yard when I was a wee lad and he young, grown man. Through the years we lived far apart and saw each other rarely, but I always took comfort in knowing my cousin was only a call, email, or text away. He was the head of the Stanley clan, and I miss him. I know Jo and all my Stanley and McAllister kin miss him even more. May God bless you and keep you through Christ our Lord.
