Mavis Sherrill Goss peacefully passed away on September 28, 2026, at the age of 93. Born on April 3, 1933, in Robbinsville, North Carolina. Mavis was the beloved daughter of William M. Sherrill and G. Gertrude Sherrill.
Her family was the center of her life and she was a tireless advocate for her daughter, Vanessa, who had special needs. Her dedication and unwavering love provided a nurturing environment full of laughter and care.
Mavis was a woman of many passions. She was known for her vivacious spirit, always ready to dress up and dance, spreading joy wherever she went. Her laughter was infectious, and her ability to make others smile and laugh was a gift she shared freely. Her friends and family were the fortunate recipients of her boundless love and her genuine kindness.
Mavis was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Goss, her beloved daughter, Vanessa, her parents, and her siblings, Marie Grindstaff, Ray Sherrill, and Jerry Sherrill.
Mavis is survived by her nieces, Joann Nichols, Carla Fosser, Pamela McFarland, Marta Kane, and her nephew, Eric Sherrill. Her nieces and nephew were a source of joy for her, and she relished the times spent with them, creating memories filled with laughter and love.
Her family wishes to extend a special message that service arrangements will be determined at a later date.
