Sarah Ruth Falk Hendrix
1962 - 2026
Beloved wife, daughter, and sister, Sarah Ruth Falk Hendrix went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 28, 2026 after a seven-year struggle against cancer. She endured bravely, and remained a determined fighter throughout.
She was born in Angola, Indiana on March 22, 1962, the first of five daughters to Marilyn Lehr Falk and the late Reverend Philip Cardwell Falk. When she was very young, her family relocated to Louisville, Kentucky, where she would spend the remainder of her childhood. She loved to draw, was a conscientious student, and was active in her church while growing up. She graduated from Wheaton College in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, and from the University of Louisville in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy.
She moved from Kentucky to Charlotte, North Carolina, in 1998, where she began an almost 18 year tenure as a physical therapist at Union Regional Home Care. In 2016, she moved to Advance, North Carolina, where she continued her career at Kindred at Home. She especially loved working with the children in her care.
She had an independent nature and an adventurous spirit, and was unafraid to try new things. Outside of her love for her career, she had a wide range of personal interests. She had a life-long affection for animals of all kinds, that resulted in an assortment of cherished pets throughout her lifetime. In recent years, she especially enjoyed hours spent with her horse, Simmon, with whom she enjoyed rides several times a week. She adored the arts, frequently attended theater performances, and supported artists by collecting various handmade pieces throughout her life. She was a lifelong movie buff, and enjoyed staying up-to-date on the Hollywood buzz surrounding her favorite actors. She loved to cook, and was always interested in trying new recipes. Her carbonara recipe was a favorite!
She is survived by her devoted husband of 10 years, Jerome Ellis Hendrix, her mother, and four sisters: Beth Burris (Greg-deceased) Decherd, TN; Amanda Hendershot (Rich) Danville, KY; Mary Robinson (Austen) Saco, ME; and Joanna Falk, Los Angeles, CA; two brothers-in-law, Jason Hendrix, Manhattan, NY; and Jarell Hendrix, Advance, NC; one niece, Savannah Hendrix, and two nephews, Gabriel Burris, and Zaccary Burris.
Although she was a very private person, she will be fondly remembered by those that knew her best, for her beautiful smile and infectious laugh, her self-depricating sense of humor, and her incurable sweet tooth. She is deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
Her loved ones will be holding a private gathering in honor of Sarah’s life later this summer. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to the World Wildlife Fund in remembrance of Sarah.
