Joy Denise Baker

1968 - 2026

Joy Denise Baker (Messick), 58, of King, North Carolina, passed away at her home on May 15, 2026. She was born on May 9th, 1968. In Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She was the daughter of Dianne Aaron Messick and Charles Curtis Messick Jr.

Joy spent her life in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and the surrounding areas, where she had built long lasting friendships and touched the hearts of many. Joy attended Parkland High School in Winston-Salem. She had dedicated over 20 years of service to Sara Lee.

In September 1999, Joy married the love of her life, Jason Baker. This coming September would have marked their 27th anniversary.

Joy was preceded in death by her sister, April Dianne Messick, and her fur baby, Rusty.

Joy is survived by her loving husband, Jason Baker; her mother, Dianne Messick; and her father Charles Messick Jr., lovingly known as “Pete.” Joy is also survived by her brother, Charles Messick III, and his wife, Angel Messick; four nephews, Christopher Messick, Brandon Messick, Nick Gossett, and Thomas Gossett; two nieces, Megan Messick and Madison Gossett; and one great-nephew, Cameron Messick.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

Joy was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew and adored her.
