Perry Nicholas Sanders

1953 - 2025

He loved his front porch rocker where he could see his family passing by with a friendly Our Lord Jesus Christ, who does all things well, called his child, Perry Nicholas (Nick) Sanders (72) into His presence on December 12, 2025. His family was at his side, rejoicing as they witnessed a man being set free from the disease of Alzheimers and entering into his eternal presence with the Lord.

Nick was born in Bamberg, SC on May 3, 1953 to Guy and “Allie” Sanders. Like his father, he maintained his small town mentality throughout his life. He knew no strangers and he wanted everyone to know his Lord. Nick left behind no doubt as to what he valued most in his life and he would want nothing more than his obituary to reflect that. Throughout each stage of his life, he consciously and consistently determined that his choices must ultimately glorify the Lord and equip himself with a greater knowledge of and love for the same.

His higher education began at Columbia (SC) Bible College, then to his completion of a degree in Church History at Taylor University in Upland, Indiana. Upon graduation he attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. It was at this time, he realized his next stage of life had begun. Through a mutual involvement at College Avenue Baptist Church, he met the love of his life. He and Sherrie Hollingshead enjoyed a short courtship and married on July 31,1976. In January of 1977, he and his new bride moved back to his hometown of Bamberg, SC where he became business partners at Sanders Supply Co with his father, Guy Sanders Jr. his uncle, Dave Clayton and his cousin, Dave Clayton Jr.

His life was marked by service to the Lord through both his business and church life. He enjoyed ministering through music at Covenant Baptist Church in Cordova, SC. He was faithful to keep his family active and attentive to the valuable teaching ministry of his pastor and long time friend, Scott Alewine and his wife, Cindy. He enjoyed these church and business relationships through many years of changes until he and the family relocated to Winston Salem, NC where he reopened business as Sanders Designs and focused primarily on custom home design and renovations. Together they had four beautiful children and eleven equally beautiful grandchildren. He and Sherrie were beyond blessed to spend his last ten years on 22 acres of shared property with three of his children, their spouses, 10 of his grandchildren, and his own putting green. Life was simple and blessed. He was kept safe and happy with a steady stream of children and adults alike who kept him active and entertained. wave or impromptu visit. He was also the speed police for grandchildren who were riding their bikes “90-something” mph

Nick was preceded in death by his father, Guy St. Clair Sanders Jr; his mother, Alice Elizabeth Wahl Sanders; his brother, Guy St. Clair Sanders III (Phyllis) of New Port Richey, FL; and his sister, Linda Sanders Moore (Steve) of Columbia, SC.

He is survived by his wife, Sherrie; daughter, Allison (Kevin) Morton; Sons, Nick (Beth) Sanders, Nathan Sanders, Daniel Sanders; Granddaughters, Annie Morton, Shiralynn Sanders; Grandsons, Jeremiah Morton, Gabriel Morton, Adrian Morton, Kellan Morton, Shiloh Sanders, Jude Sanders, Eli Sanders, Joel Sanders, all of NC and Daniel Hair of CO.

Nick spent his days here doing what he would be doing in glory – singing to the Lord. Even when it became difficult to retrieve the words, there was no doubt of the hymn or the heart in it. His legacy of faithfulness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. “I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations.” (Psalm 89:1 KJV)
