Christopher Lynn Garner

1970 - 2025

The sun set too soon on the life of Christopher Lynn Garner, 55, of Wallburg, North Carolina, who departed this world on September 30, 2025.

Born on January 12, 1970, Chris was born of the union of his father Joe Melville Garner of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and his mother, Diana Lynn Mathis of Kernersville, North Carolina – both of whom welcomed him home again in heaven.

Chris lived his life with a steadfast spirit and fiery soul. He loved truly and was generous to a fault. To know him was to know loyalty, humor, and kindness.

He leaves behind his beloved son, Brandon Chase Garner, the light of his life and his proudest joy. He is also survived by his loving sisters, Angela Spainhour (Sandy), and Deena Lane (Patrick Eddy); his devoted brothers, Joe Garner (Tammy), and Frank Primm. He also bids farewell to his loving friend, Sandy Johnson (Keith); and numerous nephews and friends he called his sons.

Chris now joins in eternal rest his cherished sister, Starla Dawn Torres, whose laughter surely greeted him as he crossed into peace.

Those who loved Chris will remember his easy smile and indomitable spirit. Though his chair may now sit empty, his spirit will forever fill the spaces between us – in the laughter of his family, the stillness of the evening, and the love that remains unbroken.

A celebration of life will be held from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM, on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at the Wallburg Fire Department, 121 Georgetown Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27107. Please join us and help celebrate and honor a man whose presence was a gift and whose memory will be a blessing always.
