Angela Renea Smith, lovingly known as “Angie,” passed away on May 29, 2025, in Kernersville, North Carolina. Angie was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, aunt, and friend whose strength, warmth, and passion left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
As the only girl among four siblings, Angie shared a special bond with her brothers—Johnny Campbell (April), Robert Smith (Vicky), and Ralph “Junior” Smith. Though surrounded by protective brothers, Angie stood strong on her own, embodying resilience and independence throughout her life.
Angie was a dedicated worker who built lasting friendships during her time at Flowers Bakery and Herbalife. Her colleagues became like family, drawn to her vibrant spirit and unwavering loyalty.
She is survived by her loving mother, Georgia Smith; her three brothers; her two sons, Sonny Marroquin and Josh Shoemaker; and her beloved nieces, Sara (Gabe), Lindsey, Terri (Teddy), Brystal, and Brandi. Angie also adored her great-nephew, Jaxon, who brought her endless joy and laughter. She was predeceased by her father, Ralph Smith.
A lifelong lover of baseball, Angie played the sport throughout her youth and high school years. She was a devoted Atlanta Braves fan and also had a deep love for NASCAR racing. Her passions reflected her energetic and competitive nature.
Angie also shared a deep bond with her pets—her loyal dog Bree and her sweet cat Whiskers—who brought her comfort, joy, and companionship every day.
She will be remembered as a tough, independent woman with a heart of gold. She was known for her fierce love for her family and friends, her stubborn streak, and her ability to light up a room with her presence.
A celebration of Angie’s life will be announced at a later date. Her family invites all who knew and loved her to join in honoring her memory.
Josh and sonny, your mom was a loyal and very sweet person. She will be forever missed by everyone she touched throughout her life. Please hang in there and know that she’s with you both always!
Ang was one of my best good friends at Herbalife. The 1st day I meet her, I knew that we were cut from the same cloth. Good old hard working country girls. We became friends fast. I miss her everyday & will always miss her every time I walk in the doors at work. She was a wonderful person that always went above & beyond to help others. Her family should be proud that she had such an impact on fellow coworkers. I speak for HUNDREDS, ” we will miss her everyday “.
Dear Angie,
I wanted to thank you for the incredible gift of your friendship and in the last few months for continuing to open my heart, mind, soul and spirit to what really matters in this life and what is least important. I also thank you for the gift of allowing me to witness observing your selflessness such as checking in on me when I was going through my own medical struggles, and even in the midst of your own pain you made by hand kissy fish to distribute to those at the cancer center. I know you did not like having a big fuss being made, however it was so incredible kind and compassionate I have to mention it. I also thank you for the gift of your amazing family as they journeyed alongside you especially as they journey got harder and still keep the doors open to visit with you. And then you for the gift to send me out on little missions to run around town and encouraging me to go to Dollywood on your behalf. As I pass places I ran on mission (Shiloh General Store as example) or watch the short footage clips I made and sent to you, I find comfort. The sign on your door to your home said, “Home of the Brave.” And that was every bit true Angie! When we worked shoulder to shoulder as colleagues you were a source of strength and inspiration to me, a true and genuine Rosie the Riveter!! As a small remembrance I got me a pair of white sneakers though they did not stay white every long. I also wanted you to know that we have, you have a crew here at work, I call us Angie’s Angel Army, and we are rolling deep. As we have and continue to grieve your passing from this life, we have helped to support one another, console one another and keep your spirit among us. As your blue bracelet you wore says “Remember Jesus Loves Your, I wanted to say I Love and Miss My Buddy. When times get hard, I will refer back to songs Brad Paisley and Dolly Parton “When I Get Where I am Going,” and Zach Williams and Dolly Parton “There Was Jesus.” Love, Veronica
