Terri Swift Newman
1958 - 2025
Terri Swift Newman, of Belews Creek, NC, peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 29, 2025. Born on Christmas Eve, 1958, in Winston-Salem, Terri was the cherished daughter of Charles and JoAnn (Bowers) Swift.
From a young age, Terri lovingly cared for her younger siblings, a role that shaped her nurturing spirit. Terri was a hardworking and devoted single mother whose greatest joy was her daughter, Jennifer; she gave her all to support her and raise her with love, strength, and compassion.
Terri had a deep love for nature, tending to her garden and feeding the wildlife around her home. She was a lifelong learner, immersing herself in self-help books, blogs, and YouTube videos. A gifted crafter, Terri poured love into her handmade creations—crocheting, knitting, sewing, and quilting special items for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed thrift shopping, always on the lookout for treasures and creative ways to repurpose them.
Terri was preceded in death by her beloved parents. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Craig) Miller, and her adored grandchildren, Mae and Wyatt, of Vienna, VA. She also leaves behind her siblings, Junior (Kathy) Swift of Kernersville, NC, and Donna (Jeff) Mabe of Walnut Cove, NC, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
The family extends special gratitude to Terri’s niece, Jessica Mabe, and great-niece, Zoe Parsons, for their faithful support, errands, and physical care during Terri’s time of need.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Your prayers and expressions of sympathy are deeply appreciated. A private family gathering will be held at her sister’s home to honor and celebrate Terri’s life.
