Oscar "Benny" Tadlock, Jr
1963 - 2025
Oscar “Benny” Tadlock, Jr., 61, of Kernersville, NC, passed away, Friday, April 25, 2025, at his home, surrounded by loved ones.
He was born on October 1, 1963, in Winston-Salem, Benny lived a life full of spirit, love and adventure.
Benny married the love of his life, Joyce Swaim, on May 3, 1987, and they had 2 beautiful girls, Ashley Wells (Chris) and Rachel Townsend (Matthew). One of the greatest joys of Benny’s life was enjoying his grandchildren, Ethan, Caden, Kayleigh, Adalynne, Ruby, and Oliver. He loved making them laugh with his funny sayings and tales of great adventures, (some true/some maybe not).
Some of the most treasured memories his daughters hold are of epic snow days, building snowmen and sledding until they couldn’t feel their toes. After a day of sledding, He would gather up his daughters and their friends and treat them all to CiCi’s Pizza.
Benny worked hard and played even harder. He owned his own construction company and had a passion for Harley Davidsons. When not working, he loved riding his bike through the NC mountains, and you never saw him without a Harley shirt or Harley hat on. He was a devoted fan of UNC basketball, never missing a game especially when they played Duke, (GO HEELS).
Benny and Joyce loved to visit antique stores and take spontaneous day trips. They would get to the top of their road and flip a coin to see which direction they would go in this time. It was always an adventure, and they never knew where the road would take them until they got there.
He also had a way of making everyday life unforgettable from teaching his daughters to appreciate great southern rock, shooting pool in his building with family and friends, and hosting his chicken stews that brought everyone together.
Benny always shared his unique wisdom with others, like classic one-liners. While watching his favorite Westerns, when others came into the room, he would quickly throw out, “If you’re going to talk, go to the other room.” And if he caught you fibbing? “You know how I know you’re lying? Your lips are moving.” That was Benny-straightforward, sharp and always unapologetically himself.
Oscar “Benny” Tadlock Jr. wasn’t just a husband, father, and grandfather- he was an original. A true badass with a heart of gold, who lived life loud, loved hard, and left a legacy of laughter, strength and unforgettable memories.
The family will hold a private celebration of Benny’s life.
