Charles Richard Hance
1943 - 2024
81 years of being everyone’s hero, Charles Richard Hance passed away Friday, November 8, 2024. Born in Camden, NJ to Charles “Reds” and Mildred Hance he graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and enlisted in the Air Force where the spark of Aviation took hold of him that provided a life around the airplanes he loved so much. His career began with Piedmont Airlines where he remained until his retirement 42 years later. He married Connie, and shared a love for 58 years having two adoring daughters and one cherished granddaughter as well as multiple dogs he loved so much, all left to pay tribute and honor his life of service. He was the ultimate fix-it guy, with never less than a dozen projects happening simultaneously between the house, garage and the church he loved. He was the person everyone could count on to fix whatever needed fixing, and he did it all with his infectious smile. His service to his country during Vietnam was recognized this year when he was chosen to participate in ‘One More Mission’ as a Veteran on the Triad Honor Flight of which he was so honored and humbled to be a part. He is survived by his wife, Connie, daughters, Kym (Louis), Jennifer (Will) and granddaughter, Raven. His mischievous brothers, Ernie (Maria), George (Missy) and his loving sister, Trudy (Bill) and many nieces and nephews he loved. His sister, Treva, predeceased him along with his parents. He had a bonus son, Mike (Shelby) and a huge extended family that all knew him as YaYa, Uncle Charlie, and Uncle Rich.
He would be proud to know donations are being made in his name to www.triadhonorflight.org or to www.sandlotfamily.com who is currently serving with restoration work in Western NC.
