Thomas Robert Nicholson
1932 - 2024
Thomas Robert Nicholson went to the more immediate presence of his
Lord and Savior on August 18th 2024 at his home in Winston-Salem. He was born in Winston-Salem on September 2, 1932 to Raymond Bryon Nicholson. He graduated from John W. Hanes High School and attended High Point and Guilford College retiring from AT&T after 33 years. He and Thomas Aaron McKenzie were instrumental in development of methods for locating cable faults in terminated undersea cables. He served in the U.S. Marines Corps in the Korean Conflict 1953 to 1956 training pilots and Radar Operations for all weather night fighters, Owner of TRSCARS from 1957 to 2007, He rebuilt wrecked cars and street rods. An avid volunteer for medical studies at Wake Forest Health and Piedmont Medical Group, a Hunter Safety Instructor for the State of NC since 1990, former Director of the NC Wildlife Federation, First President of Piedmont Wildlife Club, member of United Commercial Travelers since 1957, supporter of disabled Amercan Veterans, Paralyzed Veterans of America, wounded Warriors Project, Special Olympics and the American heart association, a member of Fairview Moravian church since 1949. An usher, candle maker, sound system operator, usher and band ticket collector at the Easter Service and led the crowd from Court Square to the Cemetery. He is survived by long time friend Donna Price Pressley of Lexington, NC. A graveside service in Salem Moravian graveyard will be scheduled at a later date. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
