Melissa was born in Yadkin County, NC on September 15, 1962, to the union of Billy and Vonda
Reece. Melissa accepted Christ and was baptized at a young age. Melissa received her formal
education at Forsyth Technical Community College. After graduation, Melissa worked in many
professions and ultimately made a career in restaurant service. At a young age, Melissa
developed a life-long love for horses and other animals. Melissa’s passion in life was her
daughters and she lived selflessly serving them in every way she could.
Melissa departed this life on Thursday, August 1, 2024. Melissa is survived by her daughters,
Summer Smith and Nikki Hutchens, and her brother, Billy Reece.

Although I didn’t know Missy that well, we went to Forbush High together, and it really gets me when one of us passes on. Missy is the 25th one of us that has died. In 1980, it was the 13th graduating class from Forbush, there were 213 graduates, and it was on Friday the 13th! And believe it or not, it didn’t even rain! I dont use real name online.
