Linda Cleary
1949 - 2024
Linda Cleary, 74, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 2nd in her home surrounded by her family. She was born on December 07, 1949 to Earnest Burchette and Frankie Dudley. Linda was a beloved mother, grandmother and sister. Her favorite thing to do was help people, and she spent her life in service of others. She retired from working in hospice where she spent each day caring for others and their families as they walked their final journey of life.
She cared for her family with everything she had and never left anyone doubting her unconditional love.
Linda was preceded in death by her father Earnest, her mother Frankie, step father Odel Dudley, brother Charles Burchette, close aunts: Claudine White, Marlyn Vestal, and Greta Swaim, and close cousin Sandra Shumate.
Linda is survived by her children: Wendy Adkins and husband Floyd Nance of Wilkesboro, Kent Adkins of Tucson, AZ, Billy Adkins of Boomer, and Tammy Goodwin of Traphill. Grandchildren: Faylene Lankford and husband Ben of North Wilkesboro, Britany Francis and husband Shannon of Elkin, Jonathon Lineberry of Burlington, IA, Avery Lineberry and wife Shay of Danville, IA, Cory Adkins and wife Brittany of Wilkesboro, Jason Nance of Wilkesboro, Reggie Adkins and wife Laura of Shepherdsville, KY. Great-grandchildren: Karley and Nate Lankford, Frankie Francis, Daniel and Lashayna Adkins, Jayden, Wyatt, Ivar, Eyvin, Maelynn Lineberry, Lilly Lineberry, and Elaina, Saraya, and Aurora Adkins. Siblings: Samuel Burchette and wife Macy of Hawaii, Ronnie Burchette of Wilkesboro, Ricky Burchette and Pamela Dudley of Jonesville.
A special thanks to Mountain Valley Hospice for the care and support they provided. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mountain Valley Hospice in Linda’s memory.
Linda’s wishes were to be cremated and her family and friends will gather to celebrate her life on Sunday August 25 at 3pm. The celebration will be held at Baptist Home Baptist Church, 2367 Sparta Road, North Wilkesboro, NC.
