Dennis L. McKnight, PhD
1957 - 2024
Dennis L. McKnight, PhD, 67, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2024. Dennis graduated from college at the University of Pittsburgh and completed his doctoral degree in clinical psychology at UNCG. He ran a vibrant psychology private practice in Greensboro for decades, and was a beloved psychology professor at UNCG for several years. Dennis was a devoted father and skilled psychologist with a charismatic, vibrant, and extroverted personality. He was an active man who loved to travel, listen to music, spend time with those he loved (including his sweet pups), and ride/drive his bicycle, motorcycles, and cars. His sense of humor, easy laughter, quick wit, intellect, and warmth will be deeply missed, and he touched the lives of many. No public memorial or services will be held. In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of your choice can be considered.
My deepest condolences to all of his loved ones. I graduated from Trinity with Dennis and had the pleasure of being his friend. Always a joy to be around. He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed.🙏🕯
I am so incredibly shocked and sorry for your loss. I worked with Dennis in the mid 80’s in Winston Salem. He was kind, funny and charming. We reconnected on Facebook a few years ago and it was always nice to see his smiling face. He’s greatest joys were Sarah and his dog. May he rest in peace ❤️
I was friends with Denny in graduate school in the 80s and we kept in touch sporadically over the years. What stood out for me was Denny’s love of his family and his commitment to doing good work as psychologist. Later on, I know he really enjoyed teaching. He was a good friend – kind and caring. I will miss him
