Faye Lawson Mikels
1961 - 2024
Faye Lawson Mikels, age 62, of Rural Hall, North Carolina, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2024, after
a four-year battle with cancer. She was surrounded by loved ones at her home. Faye was born on May
27, 1961. She was known for her warm personality and infectious charm, never meeting a stranger. Faye
had a special bond with her two grandchildren, Parker Huie and Rhett Huie, whom she adored until the
end.
Faye enjoyed spending her spare time at the beach, fishing off the pier, and making crafts of all kinds.
She was a compassionate listener, always willing to offer advice and support to those around her. Faye's
creativity shone through in her love for planning parties and decorating for every holiday with
enthusiasm.
In her career, Faye found fulfillment in providing care for the residents at Rose Tara Senior Living in King.
She also dedicated much of her life to running the family restaurant, "Country Cafaye," where her
passion for cooking brought joy to many.
Faye is survived by her son, David (Scotty) Watts, her daughter, Stephanie Watts Huie (Ben), her
grandchildren, Parker and Rhett, and numerous close friends and family. She was preceded in death by
her mother, Rosa Boyd Lawson, her father, Earnest William Lawson, as well as close Aunts, Uncles, and
Cousins.
A Celebration of Life service in honor of Faye will be held at King Christian Center, located at 995 Brown
Rd, King, NC 27021 on Saturday, May 18, 2024 with visitation starting at 1pm and the service to follow at
2pm. Those wishing to make charitable donations can do so to Trellis Supportive Care of Winston Salem
or the Cancer Institute in Faye’s memory.
Faye will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of kindness, creativity, and love will
continue to inspire those whose lives she touched.
To the family of Faye. Faye and I were best friends from about 15 years old until we got married and time got away from us. I loved your mom a great deal and thought about her often. We had so many good times. She was a very very special person and I will always love her. Please know that I will be praying for you all.
