Jordan Thomas Stowe
1984 - 2024
Jordan Thomas Stowe, 39, of King, NC passed away peacefully and in the presence of family on
Sunday, April 14, 2024 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House in Winston Salem, NC after a
courageous two year fight against a complicated and rare disease.
Jordan spent most of his life in Guilford County, growing up in High Point before meeting the
love of his life and moving to Stokes County. His wife Kelly Gordon Stowe, his daughter and
apple of his eye Adeline Marie Stowe (Addie Bear) and two bonus sons Clayton and Dawson
Mitchell of the home survive him. He is also survived by his parents Ron and Debbie Stowe of
High Point; a sister, Holly Stowe Barber (Matt); his grandmother Tiney Harold; and nephews
Jaxon (Macy), Jones, Matheson, Max, and nieces KatyAnn and Kinley Barber. He was
predeceased by his grandparents Melvin and Gale Stowe and Moyer Harold.
Jordan worked in the logistics department of RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company in Tobaccoville,
and in his spare time, he loved adventures, especially exploring North Carolina with Kelly and
the kids. They particularly enjoyed being at the coast and hiking and searching out waterfalls in
the mountains. After the premature birth of his daughter, Jordan saw a need for a support
group for dads in similar situations and created Papas of Preemies which allowed him to
support and befriend untold numbers of men throughout the US and Canada in their time of
need. Prior to his illness, he had been a pack leader with Cub Scout Pack 400 in Pinnacle, NC. He
was a member of First Christian Church in King, NC, and loved following his sports teams: Wake
Forest University, the Chicago Cubs (thanks to Kelly), and the New Orleans Saints. He was
always quick to crack a dad joke.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, April 21, 2024 at First Christian Church in
King with a family visitation from 2:00 – 4:00 followed by a service at 4:00.
The family would like to thank the Atrium Wake Forest University Baptist Health Neuroscience
ICU and the Kate B Reynolds Hospice House staffs for providing amazing care. They are also
appreciative of all the love and support shown to them during Jordan’s illness and
hospitalization, would be honored if donations were made in his honor to either Kate B
Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston Salem, NC or Pinnacle Pack 400 at 1024 Volunteer Rd. King,
NC 27021.
Jordan was very special, always happy to see friends and very outgoing.
I have been privileged to know his parents many years and Jordan has always been so welcoming. Even though I didn’t see him much in the last couple of years, I have always asked about him and the family.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family. We can celebrate Jordan in the fact we know he loved the Lord, and was Saved.
I was invited to an Easter Parade in Welcome NC. Jordan and Addie came along with his Aunt Kathy and I in the car. It was the first time and last time I met him in person. What a wonderful impression this young man made. Delightful to speak with, full of enthusiasm, loved his Addie and it was written all over him. My thought: “This young man must be a child of God. He acts like one!” Many times, when I was having lunch with his Aunt, Jordan made his regular phone calls to his Kathy and that was how I heard his conversations, kept up with his life, and a nephews adoring love for his relative. He would greet me on the phone conversations. I liked it when Jordan called. My heart is grieving him, and for his beautiful Kellie, Addie, the boys and his parents. This is an extremely loving family, especially for “family.” How missed Jordan will be…. Even to me!
Jordan was a gentle soul. He was kind, and loving. His children, and wife were the center of his world. When I think of him, and his sickness, I think of how brave he was over the last two years. Facing life; and uncertainty head on. I am so grateful for his love toward my dear friend Kelly, and I pray that she and the rest of the family feel peace and comfort knowing that they will see Jordan again one day on the streets of heaven.
