Ms. Cecelia Byers, affectionately known as “Cece” was born April 4, 1960 in Winston-Salem, N.C. to the late Earl and Wilhelmenia Byers.
Cecelia departed this life Monday morning, November 6, 2023, after a tough battle with cancer. She received formal education in Forsyth County Public Schools, graduating from Parkland High School in1979. Through the years, she worked for Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Cece was known for being a simple woman, always grateful for small gestures of kindness. A lady who was the life of the party; Cecelia was dedicated to entertaining, telling jokes, creating memories, and sharing great times with dear friends and guests in home. It became warmly known as Cece’s Lounge. A place to let your hair down, relax, listen to Old School Music hits, dance, and just feel comfortable being yourself.
Byers was preceded in death by her father, Earl Byers; mother, Wilhelmenia Byers; her brother, Bryan Byers; sister Angela Byers; and her maternal and paternal grandparents.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories two beautiful daughters , Krishanda Byers and devoted caregiver Akela Byers, of the city. One grandson, Sav’ion Byers, who she truly adored. Two brothers Calvin Byers and Timothy Byers of the city. One twin sister, Selenia Byers of the city. Four aunts Herlenia Jackson, Dorothy Mae Joyner, Bessie Mae Kennedy, and Queenester Thomas. Four nieces, Anisha Byers, Janee’ Gist, Tenisha Ingram, and Cheyenne Byers; One nephew, Anthony Byers; A host of cousins, extended family, and friends.
